Q. How do I apply to be a Working Writer?

A. Fill out  The Form.

With a sample of your work.

The sample can be something you have sold.. we do not use your article. It is for screening purposes only. If we where going to keep it we would pay you. You can submit any type of work you are most comfortable with. If you want to be a copywriter then you should submit a sales page and not poetry..but to each their own.

Q. When it says 500 words.. does it have to be exactly 500?

A. Close as you can.

It is different with many clients but as a rule of thumb the word count can go over slightly and most clients will be more then happy. If it saves you time and worry to go 25 words over ending a sentence to make sense of it all.. but try not to go to much over for your own sanity, even if it is a topic you love.
